How to Become a Federal Firearms Licensee in 10 Easy Steps
If you have decided to become a Federal Firearms Licensee, there are several steps you should follow. First, go to www.ATF.gov and locate the required form. Once you fill out the form, mail it in along with the licensing fee. The Federal Firearms Licensing Center will record your information and run a background check. The license application is sent to local ATF field offices. After that, you will be interviewed by an Industry Operations Investigator. The IOI then makes a recommendation on whether or not to issue or deny a license. Area supervisors then review the report, submitting their recommendations to the FFLC. The process takes about sixty days after which you will hopefully be issued a license.
