Infographic of Industry Operations Investigators. What Do They Do?
Industry operations investigators (IOI’s) perform a number of vital functions at the ATF. These functions help to ensure regulatory standards and smooth functioning. They conduct weapons and explosives investigations, determine whether applications meet legal requirements for federal licensing, assist special agents in official investigations, and serve as a resource for compliance issues and industry best practices. Being an IOI is a rare, but valued skill with fewer than 620 currently in the field.
