Criminal Profiling
Behavioral profilers are assigned to the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit. There are several jobs for Behavioral Analysts. These include bombing investigations, arson investigations, supporting identification, arrests and prosecution, crime analysis, profiling, investigative strategies and investigative techniques. Bombing investigations involve working with local and national law enforcement and fire services. Crime analysis links serial crimes and identifies crime scene behaviors. Profiling develops behavioral, personality and biographical profiles for unknown offenders. ITAF profilers suggest investigative strategies in unsolved crime cases. Interview techniques develop strategies to motivate individuals to cooperate or confess.
